Our Story

It started with a simple truth.

Weather data is everywhere — yet real weather intelligence is nowhere.

Farmers stared at the sky, unsure whether to plant or wait. Energy traders lost profit because weather shifts appeared hours before their dashboards updated. Solar developers spent weeks running outdated historical simulations that still missed key weather-driven losses.

All of them needed one thing: Clear, autonomous intelligence — without the complexity.

So we asked ourselves: What if getting the right forecast — or the right insight — was autonomous, simple, and reliable? That question became our mission.

Backed by Stanford’s TomKat Center, StartX, Techstars, Plug and Play, and visionary climate-tech leaders, we built Kumo — an autonomous AI meteorologist agent that transforms complex weather data into clear, ready-to-use business insights.

Who We Are

Ayako Kawano

Co-founder & CEO

Ayako is a Stanford PhD candidate and climate researcher whose work in forecasting has been published in Science Advances. She brings experience from the United Nations and Accenture, combining scientific depth with entrepreneurial leadership.

Shubhankar Gahlot

Co-founder & CTO

Shubhankar is a former NASA and Oak Ridge National Lab scientist with deep expertise in climate modeling and scalable deep learning. He previously worked in energy trading analytics, giving him a unique perspective on weather-driven market intelligence.

Alan Chan

Co-founder & Chief AI Officer

Alan is an AI engineer with experience building large-scale agents, including systems used by more than 1,000 daily users. With a background from Stanford and UC Santa Cruz, he specializes in creating reliable, efficient, and user-friendly AI products.

Mounir Remache

Front-end Engineer

Mounir is a software engineer specializing in modern AI-powered B2B solutions and SaaS platforms. He has led R&D teams and supported several early-stage startups in turning ideas into production-ready products. With experience across AI, healthcare, supply chain, and HR, he brings a strong blend of technical depth and practical execution to building scalable, reliable systems.

Santosh Sharma

AI Engineer Intern

Santosh is an AI enthusiast and researcher focused on strengthening his foundations in artificial intelligence. He is entering the research world by publishing his first paper in a Korean journal and exploring natural language processing in low-resource domain. He believes that acquiring knowledge is the best teacher and seeks environments where he can continuously learn and grow.
